I'm currently reading the above and it's creased me up several times already. It's worth a lot more than the postage. How about someone aquiring it and establishing a mailing circle to spread its humour around as many folk as possible. - just a mad thought....

uk.rec.boats.paddle had a circulating copy of "The Perfect Storm", until the spammers and politicians caused the demise of the Group. It's not a new idea - go for it.

Well it has now been claimed by somebody, but I will suggest that they do indeed pass it on.

I got given a copy for Christmas and am two thirds through it but have to say he comes over as a rather nasty and unpleasant person. Not a book I'd recommend.

I can kind of see what you mean, and some of his humour came off as a bit unfriendly and laboured, but I thought he was overall well disposed to people, and certainly didn't finish it with this impression. Some of it was quite funny, too.

Like the brother and sister he made snide comments to thinking they were boy/girlfriend? Or the cafe owner who gave him a postcard that he threw at his back. Or the drinks he stole off the back of a truck? The whole thing is riddled with rather mean and nasty acts towards others who were being friendly to him.

I'll admit to a failure of reading comprehension rather than a failure of moral rectitude. I'd forgotten those incidents, and hearing them doesn't jog my memory, so obviously I can't read as well as I thought 🙁

Just been released (only to the desk in front of me - not into the 'wild'😉, as I've now finished the book. I've added a few comments at Bookcrossing too.
Any takers from this NG? Otherwise I'll leave it on a London-bound train next Tuesday.
