What are your predictions for the rest day? DiLuca looks so strong he'll probably have to go for a day long ride to tire himself out - he doesn't want to win this Giro by too big a margin and raise any suspicions like last year's ET.

Fine. The Giro is getting a lot of air time, it is an exciting race this year, no ETs, all the big Italian names still have a shot, and the football season is now over and the noise over Milan's victory has now died down.
The confessions are on the news, but Basso is not making press these last few days with the exciting Giro stages on. I think everyone accepts the fact that most pros are doped, but it is fun to watch the racing and all the scandals are simply distracting from the great racing. No great debates (a la cyclingforums...) about who is on what.
There was a great deal of press for Basso, as the biggest star confessing, but it is already relatively old news.
On the whole, things are going well. Walked into the local bar today and it was bulging with people (not all cycling fans) watching the post stage ' processo alla tappa'. If that is an indicator of anything.

If that is an indicator of anything.That’s what I love about Italy and Belgium..... you can walk into a bar and they are talking cycling ! better still its on the TV..... I remember last year on Plan de Corones the debates I had of "Is Basso doped" at bar "Einfact so..." in Brunico... if only we knew then what we know now......

True about Di Luca. But Piepoli has always done very well in the mountains. And he does get dropped in the TTs...

So had Basso.But if it matters then Piepoli actually got a lot better in the last few years. Before he won that Vuelta stage in 2004 in front of the doper Heras, he didn't have any big victories.
