Well you can tape the delayed coverage, but once the archived version goes
away at the site that's it.

BTW, where did you find that link? It looks like Rai Terrestrial! Too bad
it wasn't found sooner. I just watched some kind of Giro production on it.

Actually, you can save and keep either the live or archived stream
using
"Net Transport" available free here:
http://www.xi-soft.com/default.htm

Unfortunately, after saving it locally I have not yet been able to play
back the saved video in anything other than real time (i.e. no fast
forwarding or jumping to a point in mid-stream)

I just stumbled onto it while googling for a way to get the Eurosport
live audio to work. It works fine on my laptop but not on my main
machine.

OK, cool, I'll look into it. For some reason WinXP seems to have a
'different' desktop mode, istm, and it's been impossible to screen capture
anything or record streaming video using that, uh, OS.

I can only imagine how large a capture of an hour-long streaming vid would
be, probably dozens of Gigs, since you probably can't compress during the
capture or anything.

Yeah, works well on my desktop machine. Now if I could find the RAI program
guide again <g> I'd be in business. Thanks again.

Well downloaded and installed Net Transport, but the interface seems a bit
non-intuitive. I can past a URL into options, and it saves a file, but with
no extension in the case of streaming video, and I'm unaware of how to
'play' it. I also tried it with cycling.tv and a highlight vid, but it
didn't seem to capture anything. If you have used it to capture a
cycling.tv highlight, I'd be interested in seeing a step-by-step on how to
do this and what to do with the capture(?) file (rename it?).

Yup, that's it. I am just figuring out Net Transport myself but I found
that renaming the saved files with a .wmv (or .asf) extension allows
them to be played in Windows Media Player. Files sizes are not too bad
at about 400MB for 2.5 hours.
I have not used it with Cycling TV.

I've been watching that live feed from RAI the last couple of days. Of
course it's in italian but so what? Italian is the official language
of cycling! Also,i'ts not like you can't figure out what's going on.
The quality is pretty good and it's free!
