Giant bikes are generally good value. I've seen an Expression recently,
seemed OK. Very low step-through, which will suit some riders. Not a
light bike, and I certainly wouldn't expect it to be fast.

Thanks... she saw some traditional Begian sit up'n'beg bikes in Brugges and
liked them, and this seemed a similar setup. She's not into fast serious
cycling, just pottering about and fun rides along old railway track, etc.
Get fit and lose a couple of inches here and there.

Only thought is that new cyclists seem not to get on so well with derailleur
gears so I would go for a hub geared version like the Expression 3 LDS.

Raleigh are really [censored] these days. It's sad, but I wouldn't trust
anything with a Raleigh badge on it. Giant are at least a reputable
brand who build good bikes.
