  1. I am so sick of not being able to run. 3 1/2 weeks post surgery
and another 3 or more to go.

The good news is, I can put a bit of weight on the foot (with crutches)
and have been going to the YM to lift daily. Hopefully I can get into
the pool or on a stationary bike soon.

I honestly never thought I'd miss it this much. I even get up
at my usual 5am running time and look outside...

If you have a strong stomach, take a peek at the pre and post
    surgery pics:

It seems unlikely that I will be ready for my favorite race,
the INdy Mini Marathon. If I am not ready, I am willing to
sell my number (buyer pays transfer fees). This is the first
year that they are allowing transfers.

    Run well.

Looks like I missed the thread. What happened to your foot that caused
    the problem.

  3. Leo: I am glad to see you are recovering. If it makes you feel any
better, I am out for almost 3 weeks so far for an achillies' heel that
refuses to heal. I don't know how much linger, but I still have pain.
Good luck on your continued recovery.

  4. Cool! I love surgury photos. Do you have any from when you were turned
from a hen, to a rooster?

  5. Ozzie,
I had surgery 12-13 years ago on the pantar fascia (large tumors).
The right foot got infected and scarred badly. Scar rubbed on shoe,
broke open, healed, re scarred...again and again. It was more than
    1/2 inch thick.

I had to cut up the soles of all my running shoes just to run.
I finally got tired of it, the constant pain and bloody shoes...

The plastic surgeon cut the scar out and put on a graft....Hopefully
it works. Sure does look nasty.

    How have you been?

  6. Thanks. It seems to be taking forever. Monday will be 4 weeks.
If I can start running my 4-1-05, I'll be happy and might be able
to get to the place I can do the Mini M.
I'd hate to miss my first one in 9 years.

    Hey Leo,
Good luck healing up! Great pics (although if you want to challenge my
stomach you'll need to supply pictures from during the operation in the
future). I'm healing up from some patellofemoral syndrome tweak, so I
know very well the (im)patience, the frustration, and the eagerness. I
    hope you make your race!

Thanks. I am sure you'd be difficult to shock.
I had a mental image of what I thought a skin graft
should look like (all pink and healthy). A week after the surgery, when
he removed the bandages, I was sorta disgusted.

I am committed to doing as the doc instructs, as it was
my impatience that got my into the trouble in first place.
Had I stayed off it after surgery 12 plus years ago, it would
    not have gotten infected.
