You could try www.chucksbikes.com or www.icyclesusa.com. Both are
US-based and I don't know for certain if either will sell
internationally, but both are good places to get "leftover"
components...

The smaller dealer ads and classifieds in Cycling Weekly are often a source
of slightly older and remaindered parts. It might also be an idea to enquire
of uk.rec.cycling, as it's been a few years since I lived in Britain.

Sorry, but 9-speed will not work in snob induced applications.
Currently 10 speed is required. And to accentuate, tell everyone that
you had them customized and it "goes to eleven". No one will ever
bother to count.

good at the coffee shop is your goal...or better yet, Campag carbon
levers and rear derailluer...which even with 10s, will work great with
your otherwise shimano 9s drivetrain...if 'looks' trump function.

it's really reliable...haven't changed or adjusted my RD for 15
years...if it's 'functional', it doesn't have to be dreary..

I have to butt in here just to point out that that your conclusion here
that Mr. Campagnolo is all about dreary functionalism just doesn't
quite work, since the combination of flair and functionalism is what
Campagnolo, in fact Italian engineering in general, is known for. The
OP stated he was looking for style ("snob appeal"😉, not function, so
the answer was appropriate. _Nothing_ matches Campagnolo Record for
snob appeal.

Grazie...I have a Rolex too....I know a Seiko tells time but ya know,
it really looks nice, has lasted for 3 decades, keeps great
time.....I'd love to have a Ducati or Porsche also, rather than a
Yamahasuzukihondakawasaki or Toyota or Honda(even the NSX)...
