  1. ...seems to be good luck, at least on a mountain stage. Guerini and now Armstrong (the last 2 dudes
that I can remember being crashed by spectators, on camera, anyway) have gone on to win the stage.

Of course, when that guy took Bungo out in 1991 (?), he lost big time. But he's Italian so I'm not
sure that good luck would've helped....

But at least Bugno showed everyone how to use a bike to deck his tormentor. That bit of coverage is
a classic (Fignon standing on his pedals at the S-turn waiting for Bugno in the background).

I think that was '92. Wasn't Fignon still on Super U in '91?

Yeah, that was cool when Bugno picked up his front wheel and shoved it in the idiot's face. How else
are these fools going to learn?

I notice the race officials are getting a little more heavy handed with "runners" too - I saw several running fans get smacked up side the head by officials standing up through the sun roof.

I know! I can't believe Belli got ejected from the Giro for that incident. That HAS to be an all
time low for fan\cyclist incidents and outcome.

Bugno was lucky not to be disqualified, read the rules.

It also looked like a few of them got YANKED off the road by someone--policeman, race marshall,
    good citizen?.

A guy would be running along and suddenly disappear to one side.
