Anyone know anywhere Leeds/Ilkley way that could make a new bracket for my tag-along - but specifically one that is about a foot long, as opposed to only 4 inches long.
I have this plan to be able to take the kiddie seat (that attaches to the down tube) and the tagalong at the same time but hte tagalong need to hinge further back to avoid clashing with the kiddie seat.

I suspect that lengthening the stub will excessively stress the clamp, as well as putting the pivot too far back. I wonder if it would be better to rearrange the child seat mounting and leave the tagalong as it is.

Then rather than having the single clamp arrnagement on the seat post, I was going to specifiy a triangle section - rather like a letter Y on it's side - so as to distribute the weight on the seat post.

Hmm. Trouble is I have rear disc brakes, so racks (e.g. burley piccolo) won't work!

How about this: Cut some forks short and mount them as far down the seat stays as will clear the disc caliper - flatten the ends (cheap forks may just crush down in a big vice, otherwise apply plenty of heat and a hammer) and drill them to take U-bolts that are a snug fit on the stays. Wrap the stays in a couple of layers of old innertube or similar, and maybe put a strip of steel under the bolt to spread the load. Run a tube from the fork crown to the seat-stay bridge to stop fore/aft movement. Use high- tensile fastenings with nylocs.

I saw a bike this summer where the baby seat was fitted to the rear carrier and the bratdragger was fitted to a pivot at the back of the same carrier - seemed to work just fine.

It will if the rack is rigid enough - the OP's kiddy seat is cantilevered off the seat-tube rather than sitting on a rack (and he has a rear disc brake that restricts the fitting of a rack) hence my suggestion of a rigid bracket that would allow the pivot to be placed behind the kiddy seat and firmly attached to the seat stays.
