getting a bike need some help

Sounds like a great plan. Lots of times you can also find good prices on new bikes from previous model years.

Remember to budget in at least a helmet and a multi-tool.

yes i already got those things for my birthday so i am set i just need a bike also since winter is approching my uncl has a indoor trainer that he is lettingme use so in a way im pretty lucky cuz everything kinda just falling into my lap for this!!!!!😄

I just got a used bike for even less than that and while it's not a full on race bike (it's a cross bike), i'm perfectly happy wiht it! just make sure you be choosey about the bike you pick. Make sure it's in good shape and as close to your size as possible.

I've been out of cycling/mtb riding for about 3 yrs. and have now taken the plunge on a full sus. Marin. I researched my purchase for nearly a month, was sure I was going to have to buy a bike on-line, and then went into my lbs and found that they were clearing out their `03 line. In the end, I took advantage of Sun & Ski's "Play Now, Pay Later" scheme, whereby I put 1/4 down on my total purchase, left some post dated checks, and took my new toy home! $899.96 for an `03 Marin East Peak. Know what you want, do a lot of reading, and walk around with some cash and you'll probably wind up happy! Good Luck, man.
