Come to think of it, professional truck drivers tend to weigh more than most people. So I should gain weight if I want to drive a truck better.
Professional hockey players tend to be more pugnatious than the average person. Boxing lessons should turn me into a first rate ice skater.
Professional prostitutes tend to exhibit a more casual, outgoing attitude. So I should become more gregarious if I want to... oh, never mind.
Back to the original question - at 6'2", I have trouble finding a bike that's too big for me. I tend to ride frames that are a bit too small. Seat and stem as high as they will go - instant compact frame.
I've only been riding maybe 10 years but i'm trying to think whens the last time i saw riders just riding aero on the bike path? None. Now that i think about it most riders i see that there bike doest fit are to small of a bike. There knees are pointed straight out to the sides.

<echo and repeat Meehs's observation>
I see guys riding aero on the bike path, but the guys who are riding too small bikes are apparently under the assumption that being able to put both feet flat on the pavement while sitting on the saddle is the critical measure.
When I see someone riding a bike that's too small I assume that it's because they don't really care. Often it's a teenager, perhaps it's the bike they had when they were 10 and didn't bother replacing when they outgrew it. I also see teenagers riding BMX bikes which are very small, I think the idea is that you don't actually sit on the saddle when riding. But if you do sit, then your knees are up by your ears.
In my quest to prove my theory is true, I am demoing a shop bike that is actually one size smaller than what my previous bike was.
Now if I did the stand-over test, it would show that this bike is way to small. I should be riding a 56 if that is true. I am going to be riding a TREK 52, Madonne over the holidays to see how things go. I can tell you from riding in the parking lot, it feels great.
It has a 110mm stem, and the seat postis high compared to the other bikes in the shop. I will try to get a pic of it on here once I get it home, and I will preiodically post my findings on here.
