It's fine by me, although I'm a little hesitant about them adopting kids. Unfair to the kid maybe? Although, admittedly, having gay parents but stable family life is probably better than straight parents who argue/get divorced.

For a start, what's a MARRAGE, and can you call them Male Homosexuals (MHS) because we want the word 'gay' back. Lissen mite, bet those men in the bar in Aussie din't call 'em gays.

If gays want to get married then thats thier business. I dont think it should be done in church though. In God's eyes marriage is between a man and a woman, it says so somewhere in the bible.

There are too many people in the world right now, Bush wants to wipe out the middle east, i say let gay Americans marry and that way the population of jolly yankie land will start to decrease which can only benefit mankind in the long run.

Call me Mr Socialist but tax breaks should be for the poor, gay or straight.

Why don't they build their own places to get married in? Instead of poncing on everbody else.

I say let them get married, why should only straight men be miserable :D
LOL very funneh

I'm only too happy for gays to get married in church, it's not like the church does it for free (good of the community), they do it and get paid - so its a business...

"Male Homosexuals (MHS)" is too long. Just call 'em "fruitcakes". Rolls off the tongue much easier.

Ruedy, do gay fruitcakes roll off your tongue?

Yes, its lovely to see that the europeons are as ill-informed as the amoralcans.

Marriage is not a religious issue. Perhaps you Euros are still in the thrall of the catholic church but in most civilized countries marriage is a legal issue. Gay people want, and deserve, the same legal status accorded to straight people who get married. Its not just about tax breaks, its about the ability to make decisions for their family. Someone already posted all the relevant legal issues in one of the other threads.

Gay people are not asking that churches allow them to marry. Most gay people are not interested in being married by the latest child molester from the Church of Thuggery and Buggery and Moral Righteousness. Churches can do whatever they like.

No no mate, I'm just not afraid to take the pi55 out of myself...

I kinda agree with Saucy but then not though. The 'no to gay marriage' campaign is being driven by the catholic church, this is without a doubt. I agree though that it should not be considered in these terms but it cannot as presently the main countryu to debate this is the US, where Bush and cronies and their policies are catholic driven.

Re: 'most civilized countries marriage is a legal issue' - I strongly disagree with this. The vast majorities of countries around the world are religiously based and marriage is certainly all about god and stuff...Us Euros are probably now less religious than most countries, of who the US is the no.1 in terms of having a religious majority...

I said "civilized" countries. IMO, countries that are "religiously based" are not truly civilized. And the US is one of the least civilized of the bunch. Truly "civilized" nations are very few and far between. (Also, Catholics do not have a great influence in the US as they do in europe. It is the evangelical christians who are running the show in america.)

Marriage is not about God. Marriage is a practical legal arrangement. That is all it has ever been.

Marriage is simply the planning stages of a divorce. During the marriage you create the children you will fight for custody over, build up the assets you will try to steal from the other, and determine the reasons why you will hate each other 10 years later so that you can check the appropriate box on the divorce forms.

I totally support the gays. I am very liberal, and I have nothing at all against gays. Society has put down and looked down apon gays. because they are different, And its wrong. I mean how would you like to be gay? It would kinda suck wouldnt it? Let the gays marry each other. Those poor people deserve it, the tax cuts and all. I hate the anti gay pro-war pro bush conservatives, They are turning this country in the wrong direction, I will leave it at that.
