Saturday the 31st August saw a walk organised by the Wainwright Society but also attended by the Online Fellwalking Club.
We assembled at 10.30am at Mardale for a walk on to High Street via Rough Crag and then over to Mardale Ill Bell and Nan Bield Pass where the group of 16 split. Half the group continued over to Harter Fell descending via Gatescarth Pass whilst the remainder dropped down via Small Water.

Yes, a good days walking. The weather was far too humid for my liking though. Give me autumn, spring or winter over a hot and stuffy summers day any time.

After a fairly easy 8 miler yesterday, the first 4 miles in relentless drizzle, the remaining 4 done with waterproofs hanging from the sack, and slowly drying out my shirt and shorts on my back, I'm beginning to agree with him. It would probably have been better not to use the waterproofs, we were nearly as wet inside them, but the slightest breeze can cause a dangerous chill to a geriatric. :-) -- Gordon
