Gallbladder results

I must have missed it, but what were your symptoms with the polyp?

I just had this weird feeling of "something in there where there should be
nothing " for a while. then i started having pain in that spot - a bruised
feeling then sometimes a sharp pain. So I finally got myself freaked out
enough to go to the doctor and they sent me for an abdominal sonogram.

Thanks. I'll be interested in what the surgeon has to say. It sounds
very much like what I've been experiencing for several months now. I had
a sonagram, but no gallstones either. It's been fairly miserable at
times, so I'm trying to figure out what's causing it.

if you had a polyp they probably would've seen it during your sono. I
thinkyou can have gallbladder problens without any stones, etc. I thinkif
you have a certain number of "attacks' they take it out.

they said the gallbladder would have to go. I have to wait till the morning

For what it's worth, I had my gall bladder removed in March 2004.

The symptoms I had been experiencing prior to surgery (chest pain,
vomiting) eluded everyone until I had an ultrasound and the gallstone
was spotted.

After having the gall bladder removed (and I was only in the hospital
for a total of about 7 hours), my recovery took about 5 days, then I was
pretty much back to normal, except I wasn't in pain any more.

I always used to have vague pains in my chest/abdomen. At times, I
thought I might be having a heart attack, except that drinking cold
water and taking heartburn pills would make the pain go away. This was
pretty much constant, and I thought it was just natural. Since having
the gall bladder removed, I have not had any chest pains at all. Or
heartburn, for that matter. I think the gall bladder was causing all
kinds of problems for me.

Get the thing removed. You'll be happy you did it.

I did not have stones, but I kept complaining of pain, and finally
my doctor sent me for a HIDA test, which determines gall bladder
function. We discovered that mine essentially wasn't functioning.
It was removed on Feb. 24 this year, I was back to 100% within 10 days
of the surgery and now even the scars are fading. The surgery was
done laparoscopically; people who need the old open procedure have
much longer recoveries.

It was a piece of cake, and, while I never had "attacks" as some
people describe them, I had a more-or-less constant burning ache on my
right side and occasional bouts of gastric distress that would last
around two days. It's nice to be rid of it.

DH had his out on a Wednesday, Saturday he went deer hunting, including
hauling a 130lb carcass across the pasture and into the truck, hanging on
the scale at the check station, and then onto a hanger at home to butcher
it. The he had the gall to complain that I wouldn't make him a sandwich
because he wasn't supposed to 'exert' himself.

There must have been a little residual gall still circulating, you know,
