I think Einstein's equations prevent all but highly localised modifications to the Galaxy. Unless of
course you happen to be of similar size & power etc.

Oh yes, if the universe is constantly expanding, how do galaxies collide, aren't they all travelling
away from each other (red shift & all that), or is it possible in the "local group".
