    Well, as long as we're talking gaiters, the zip on one of mine quit
    today .. 'cairngorm' goretex gaiters from Stewardsons. Since I've only
    had them for 6 months, 100 hours, 300 miles (roughly) of use, I think
    they're going back, with a suggestion they spend another 0.5p on
    better/ticker metal for the zip slider (it does have to work a bit
    harder than a trouser or jacket zip, since the gaiter tends to stretch,
    which means the zip isn't perfectly flat after a few days use).
