This afternoon, in a meeting, I looked out the window to see the flag
flying very ferociously. And the clouds just whipping past the window
at a great rate of km/h (knots -- what a stupid unit of measurement.
But great rate of furlongs/fortnight doesn't have the same ring to
it).
So when I looked out the window at the dark clouds, tonight, I decided
to look at the radar to see whether I should go home yet:

And wow, are those rain clouds flying. Indeed, normally, they are far
enough off such that I would be able to make it home with a shopping
stop. But tonight, I give it 30 minutes. And that is barely enough
time to get home if I was already changed into gear, and I didn't have
to go shopping. There looks to be plenty of rain behind the front.
This is by no means an invitation for all you suckers to distract me
tonight as I stay back at work getting bored waiting for the rain to
go. I had a chat with co-supervisor tonight, about my future. And I
have been ordered to stop wasting time on frivolous things such as
USENET. So here I am 🙂
Tam: I've decided I may go back to Coonabarabran to stay at parents in
a month or so. Might see if the observatory can put up a spare desk
for me with interwebnet connection. Do not let yourself get into the
situation of having no funding. Finish your thesis!
