See? Cheap [censored] cassettes. Mine are held in with weeny allen bolts
so individual rings can be replaced. In theory.

Actually sounds more like expensive cassettes. XT and XTR have a spider
thingy onto which the rings are mounted - this is probably lighter.
Unfortunately the downside is the sprockets aren't as strong, as various
off-road tandem teams have discovered. The LX and equivalent cassettes like
yours are stronger.

I've done the same to the sprockets on a conventional Sachs Aris
freewheel on a tandem. three teeth missing on a 17 tooth sprocket.
Still changed OK, though a bit rough.

Sadly not. My parents were both extremely fond of limericks (usually
decidedly salacious). I don't know whether that is a creation of theirs
or one they collected from some other source.

Nothing worse than altitude above you, runway behind you and fuel in the
fuel truck.
