Correlate? Yes. Equate? No.
Here's some light reading while you're waiting for your book. cyclingpeakssoftware.comPowerTrainingChapter.pdfOpen β
Correlate...yes, that's the word I was looking for π

There's no doubt that your 4min Max Power correlates to your FTP, but 4min MP is very much influenced by your anaerobic work capacity (AWC) as well as your aerobic power production (probably more by VO2max power than by FTP), whereas your AWC has much less influence on your FTP because AWC is not quite renewable unless you take some rest.
The ratios of anaerobic to aerobic power production vary wildly among individuals, so your 4min MP may not be as good an indicator of your FTP as, say, your 20min MP.
I'm hoping 4mM in the OP was 4mmol/L blood lactate concentration. :o

Ah! That makes more senseπ

I am just curious. Any reason why you're wondering about blood lactate concentration at FT?

Basically I'm reading up on power etc as well as reading Friel's training book.
My questions are to get some idea of what correlates to what and how everything fits into the big picture and as the picture is quite blurred at the moment π I'm asking as many questions as I can.
