Hello all,
I just wondered if anyone had any feedback (positive or negative) about the FSA RD488 wheels? I am very keen to pick up a pair after reading some good reviews about them. I have a price of $1,470 (AU $), which seems very reasonable as some places are charging as high as $1,750.
I was initally interested in some Mavic Ksyrium ES wheels, but I have had a change of mind after hearing some bad stories.
Any feedback is most appreciated.

Don't order them from overseas or ebay unless you are prepared to pay the customs fees and live without warranty. Otherwise, FSA hubs haven't got the greatest rep but they have good bearings and roll forever. The spokes are good (ellipse not blades) and it is great value for a deep carbon tuby.

Thanks very much for the reply. I have already ruled out purchasing off the Internet due to the issues you mentioned. The price I found was a LBS in Box Hill, Melbourne. URL is below if anyone else is interested.

The warranty's definitely worth having – especially as FSA's after sales is very good. That's speaking from experience when I had a problem with my RD400 rear hub (eventually traced, ahem, to owner error..). I emailed FSA with a simple tech query (ie, how do I get the friggin' bearings out) in the States, they emailed straight back, copied to the French importer, who emailed the next day, offering a free hub rebuild and shipping at their expense. In the end I just got them to send the bearings and did it myself, but I appreciated the willingness to make the offer.
Not sure about the RD488, but the bearings in RD400 and RD200 are all generic bearings, exactly the same as those used by Gipiemme, Shimano and others. Very smooth when new, although I have had one fail on the RD400 rear. Cheap and easy to change though (once you know how the axle comes apart!).
The bearings are most likely Enduro bearings, which are very good. Neuvation also uses Enduro. A ceramic upgrade from enduro is also very good value compared to others.

I've actually had a change of mind and have now decided to go for a set of Campagnolo Eurus wheels. I believe that I have got a fairly good price for them ($1250), does anyone have any positive/negative thoughts on the Campy Eurus wheels?
Any thoughts are much appreciated.

There is no downside to owning Campy wheels.
