Front panniers for suspension forks

It may be possible to mount some low rider ones if the forks
have the bosses. However, there is also the problem that
the weight carried in the panniers is then unsuspended weight,
and thus the performance of the suspension becomes much worse
and the panniers aren't protected from the bumps.

It is possible to mount and use lowriders on many types of suspension forks.
You may need to be a bit creative though.

The unsuspended weight is no more a problem than on a rigid fork. You still
benefit from the suspension, even if your luggage doesn't (and I'd hardly
expect you to be doing serious cross country with a fully loaded bike)

This one still requires mudguard eyelets or an appropriate bodge.

I made do with an appropriate bodge but that is not applicable to many
designs of forks.

Carriers are acvailable, both suspended and unsuspended. With suspended
you might need to uprate the springs, unsuspended is noisier.

they won't work with disk-specific forks.

These don't use the brake bosses and should work with disk-specific

Tubus make a really neat front rack for bikes with front suspension. It hangs from the top of the fork and where the stem goes into the frame. i.e it does not affect the suspension at all. It costs about £ 75.00 I think it may be stocked by Orbit cycles also a company called Kinetics sells it - you could also just go to the Tubus web site. Also Delta make a much cheaper rack (around £35.00 ) which fixes to the suspension bottoms i.e not so good (sold by Kinetics also I think).
