The race was to go slow. So one thing they were not allowed to do was use brakes to control their
speed. The easiest way to enfore that rule is to remove them.For those who didn't read the article - Eric Zabel rode slower then Jan Ullrich for 30 meters,

It was a tad ambiguous, and brakes was incorrectly spelled. I've changed it to: "...utilitarian
