i guess im not much really a freestyle rider, but i wear chucks when i ride, gives me a nice feel of wear my foot is on the pedal and wheel

I wear converse yes. But i wouldnt say they were the best for freestyle. I think it depends. I like them because one, my feet are small and thin so converse fit properley where some skating shoes are too wide. They have a nice sole which grips the tyre well and i can stand up on the frame without worrying that my feet are too big and will slip off.
I also wear vans sometimes but find they can grip the tyre a bit too much when gliding.
Converse are quiet thin because of the canverse so doesnt give your foot much support sometimes. But they seem to work for me.
