  1. Can someone recommend a free weights workout which targets the chest area?

A website which has illustrations of the work out would be great if
    possible.

    Thank you

    Pretty standard:

    Flat Bench Press
    Incline Bench Press
    Decline Bench Press
Pec fly's (dumbell) incline, flat and decline.

Those are three main ones, but there are others.

Try googling for "pectoral" or "chest" and free weights, for example:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=bench+press

    That website is http://www.google.com

    Have fun!

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone

    Fly's? Major? for a beginner?

Major way to irritate tendons crossing the shoulder :-)

    Why not? :-)

Dumbells, for some people, are easier to handle than bars?
    No spotter needed...

Really? Never bothered mine a bit, but I guess YMMV!

There's this older 'nam vet with shrapnel in his shoulder at my gym. He
does mostly fly's instead of bars as he says it irritates his shoulders
a lot less than using barbells.

He used to be a powerlifter and has helped advise me on my form. I have
trouble with chest and personally find that a combination of incline
bench and incline fly's help me make the best progress...

    But like I said, YMMV......

Flyes with 2 barbells would be much harder for everyone.

Pain, injury, pansy little sissy poundages.

Good arguments for dumbbell benching and dips.
