Dropped, I can't believe you are being so rude! Honestly! Just because you
didn't like some of the suggestions in this thread (like padding out your
body), it is not necessary to call the ideas "retarded", "stupidity", and
"dipshit responses". What a little diva b*tch you are for not showing a
little more respect for people who were trying to help you!

'Is helpful' is one thing -- 'trying to be helpful' is another. Maybe she
thought we were being sarcastic. I hadn't seen the dress, I didn't care
quite enough to follow the link. Still, as Crafting Mom said, someone
experienced in theatre costumes could make an actress look the right size
for any dress, no matter how close-fitting it was. (And Dropped28 said it
was a 'NY' wedding, plenty of costumers in NY.)

Jbuch worded his/her suggestion very gently and politely. I think it is
    obvious he/she was sincere.

Imo the choices and intelligence of the bridesmaid would be something like
    this:

Most intelligent: Recuse* as bridesmaid. Try to find someone else to wear
the dress; if not, then tell the bride to expect one less bridesmaid. That's
what a person would do if they had an injury or something. Drop out, forget
    it, and get a life.

Intelligent: Take best guess as to future size, get a dressmaker working on
alterations well in advance. If the weight turns out not to match, then drop
out or proceed to other alternatives.

Stupid: Endanger future health by changing the diet. This might not even
work, she might still turn out not to fit the dress: she might gain instead
    of holding steady.

Less stupid: Get a costumer to make a corset or something with several
layers of lining material: fine tune it during the last few days.
This is 'stupid' in that it spends time and money, but it's a lot less
stupid than changing the diet and staying fat.

Wearing a pad of fat for a month and maybe NEVER getting it off, is more
stupid than wearing a padded bra and corset for one night.

I'd never have suggested the padded corset to anyone who wasn't ALREADY
thinking of keeping the fat pad, maybe keeping it forever.

It's my husban't brother's wedding, not some gal I hardly know from

I don't have "well in advance", I have 5 weeks. You think it would be
intelligent to drop out of your good friend & family's wedding last minute.
What a lovely, thoughtful person you are.

I would be off "active weight loss" and on a maintenance plan for max 5
weeks. Sounds deadly - especially at the life threatening 146lbs I am these
    days

    It's just plain stupid. I think I'd rather wear a dress that's a 1/2 size
too big than pad it to look fatter and be uncomfortable and hot all night.
This is an affair that will start around 2 or 3 at the bride's house for
pix, 4:00 wedding, after that off to a mansion and gardens for photos, then
cocktail hour at 7, reception at 8. I will also have my 2 young children on
and off of me all day. I will probably be in this dress for 12 hours.

I am not going onto maintenance for this. I will continue on as I have and
get the dress altered as late as I can. I mentioned this very early in the
thread yet the useless suggestions are pouring in and everyone is attacking
me for trying to not be selfish. Your best idea is "drop out" . Very nice.

Yes. 🙂 Hard to imagine anyone going to all that trouble. But even harder
    to
imagine anyone wanting to wear the fat pad for a month, etc.

    Skinny

"fat pad" ew. Is it soooo impossible to imagine not losing like 4-8lbs one
month for someone else - it's really not such a big deal!

Are you Skinny or fat? You don't have any numbers -

  12. Did you find it factually incorrect, dipshit?

Thanks, I already have a recommendation for a local seamstress that has done
