It was a fairly routine operation last Monday to remove half of my thyroid
that had a big nodule on it that was getting in the way (not cancerous,
that was tested last year).
I am surprised how little it hurts looking like this. The strips are
instead of stitches and should fall off sometime next week.

At least I stood behind the bike and not in front of it 🙂

The frame is 19.5" from center of bb to top of seat tube, 18" to centre of
top tube. And as far as I can tell from a short ride around the block it
works for me, for the sort of riding I will do with it.

The bike looks indeed like it's never been used, just has been sitting in
a garage. All it needed was a few minutes tightening various bolts and
adjusting the gears, pumping the tires and oiling the chain.
Next will be a rack and a bit of mudguard.

The small wheels on the rear derailleur are larger than I have seen
before, maybe that's something to do with the megarange cassette?

Time to plan a remote munro now!

The simple answer is, Simon, that whilst in the operation it was finally
realised that it was not possible to improve upon perfection, so Roos was
put back to her perfect self 🙂

No, they're on all the low-end Shimano mechs now. Why only the low-end I
don't know. They have to be more efficient - they bend the chain through a
less tight radius, and they themselves rotate less quickly, both factors
which ought to reduce losses.
