    the only appropriate response.
    AAARRRGgggghhhhh!
Hell of a game though, all around. Both teams, keepers, and the
    officials were right on.
Now it's time to break out the French flag.

The first goal was beautiful. The second was unbelievable. So much
for Germany never having lost in Dortmund.

    PS They should be wearing helmets. {ducking}

My wife is coming APART at the loss... I had to head out to the
computer to give her some space...

that is what happens when you have an _american_ coach...

On the bright side, Kessler won, and Fothen got the white jersey. I
mentioned that to her, but, um, she didnt perk up...

I am so bummed! I wanted a Germany v. France final, to see what it
would be like to watch the French play for the Germans.

Actually, it's the second half of the first (and only) period of extra
time. Sheesh, you'll be calling it soccer next.

Maybe they should have played there instead of Dusseldorf.

After that second goal, through my open balcony door I could hear my
neighbourhood cry out in pain, then anger, before petering out in
resignation. Back to their dark thoughts for another four years.

The jinx took a while to work ("Berlin, Berlin, wir fahren nach
Berlin"😉, but work it certainly did. All is right in the world.

I felt a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of voices
cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

As I saw it, Germany was exceptionally timid the whole match. Ballack,
in particular. I saw Klinsman motion to him to strike, often, but
Ballack kept it up with those little looping passes, many intercepted.

They will still get to Berlin - Saturday.

The first goal was class, the second one only happened because the germans
had to throw everyone forward to try and get an equalizer. I never
expected the germans to get as far as they did with such a young team,
they should be very competitive in 4 years time.

I felt the disturbance in the force when Germany beat Argentina a week
ago even though Argentina had played better. The next day I rode with a
German dude. My pump kept asking me to place it between his spokes. It
took a great deal of effort not to listen to my pump. The mofo was a
strong dude and kept pushing the pace. 60 miles into the ride, he
bonked and I gave him a granola bar. I had to wait for him on the last
hill and encourage him so he could finish. That felt good.

Personally I prefer using my light sabre on opponents wheels. Much more
    effective than a pump.

you made me laugh, and partly because this sounds like a conversation i
would have with my bf, except he would be using words like "penis"
    instead of "pump".

    Dumbass -

I don't use the word "penis" that often.

    thanks,

Your bf wants to put his penis between some guy's spokes? Spinergies?

Oh, yes. Putting your penis between someone else's spokes. Great idea...

penises might be wily, but are rarely intelligent. you and robert are
both smart enough to know that. that is, er, if either of you actually
have a penis... (and don't get mad at me, my balls made me write that
    last part)

Hey, we're cyclists. It's the saddles that do it. But never mind, we
    still get bikes to ride...

Simon, wondering if the joke is translatable into Merkin.
