Fort William pubs?

We went to a few with no problems, didnt take note of their names though.

You should never be intimidated by a Scottish pub. Treat it like the
Wild West Saloon.

You walk in the door, all eyes turn towards you, you stroll to the
bar, everybody sees you aren't going to start a fight so they all go
back to doing whatever it was they had been doing, untill the next
person opens the door 🙂

The chip shop down the lane near the underpass to the station does
great suppers.

Theres a good chipper in the housing estate on your left hand side as
you leave fortwilliam. Staggering distiance from the Railway club who'll
let you in as a non member if they think you wont cause trouble 🙂 [censored]

The Grog & Gruel on the main street used to be good. I haven't been
there for a few years though. I think it was owned by the same people
who owned the Clachaig Inn in Glencoe (which is also worth a visit).

A bit further away is the hotel at Corran Ferry.

think they did food too. We ate at the indian restaurant along the road
and it wasnt bad.

And how can I forget the Nevissport pub, very good beer selection.

The G&G was decent on my last visit, a couple of years ago now :-( If
you can call Invergarry "around Ft William" the Invergarry Hotel does
decent beer and scoff.

The only other place I've eaten or drunk in is the Nevis Bank Hotel
just by the roundabout at the northern end of town where the road
heads off up Glen Nevis.

If you go to the Grog and Gruel (upstairs) you are better off booking as it
gets very popular.
Nevissport pub does good bar meals as well.
There is a more upmarket restaurant set back off the high street(inland) the
name of which escapes me.
Not sure where the "all eyes turned to look...." comment comes from - the
whole town exists on tourism!

There are plenty of good pubs that serve food in Fort william and
around the Glen Nevis area. All are quite used to walkers and climbers
in varying states of disarray!

Try any of the following ....

The Achintee Inn, at the bottom of Ben Nevis on the Pony Track
Nevis Bank Hotel, on the roundabout at the entrance to Glen Nevis
Nevisport, under the gear shop in the town centre
Grog & Gruel, town centre (Excellent real ales)
Ben Nevis Inn (called the 'Jack' locally), town centre

There are 3 or 4 other pubs in the town centre as well as numerous
hotels with bars around the town.

That's the posh [1] restaurant upstairs, they do bar meals in the pub
downstairs.

[1] Never been upstairs so it may not be "posh" as you would expect
where I work in Belgravia, but have seen folk waiting for a table at
the bar downstairs.
