Fork & seatpost dimensions -Trek 1400

Are you sure about the age of your bike? (Trek hasn't made the 1400 since 1997). At any rate, the Headset for that bike is 1", and the seatpost diameter is 27.2. Good Luck! 😉

I bought it new in the UK at the end of 2001 (with a work bonus because I work soooo hard). It is USPS white with mainly blue & red transfers, 105 groupset etc

Not to my knowledge - they were selling it as an end of season bargain & I have been very happy with it - I just want to lose some of the road buzz & hope that a couple of bits of carbon might help.

A straight fork has the same offset or rake as a curved one. You need to match the rake and crown to dropout distance or handling could be affected. I could say something about throwing good money away,but I won't.

Your replies got me curious, so I gave Trek a call, (I'm across the pond from you) they confirmed the last year of production, and dim. I gave you. You could possibly accomplish your goals by considering a slightly wider tyre, and save a few £'s. (Sounds like ya got a deal on it!) 😉
