  1. I am getting close to TOM and things are getting weird.

One day i woke up and was 2.5 lbs up. No way you can just gain that
overnight!!! So i started getting suspicious. I didn't change my diet in any
big way. i went out to dinner one night and ate a piece of grilled chicken
and some shrimp that could have been marinated in something. I don't thin
kthis would do anything more than stall me a little - not send the scales
    through the roof!!

Just let me know if I should relax and wait till after TOM to even look at
    the scale again.

(and for you scale-haters out there: Don't even reply! I don't wanna hear
it! Step away from you r keyboard!!!)

Do you mean you ate and drank nothing from evening weigh-in to morning
    weigh-in?

You can easily gain 2.5 lbs in glycogen/water, but you do have to eat
and drink something to do it.

Don't worry, it's completely normal to retain water as TOM gets near. Some
months I gain over 5 lbs. Of course it doesn't help that I crave salt at
that time. Why can't I crave chocolate like any normal woman? lol

  4. Ditto. I'm fighting that right now. Weighed in this morning at 205, up
from 203, but TOM is getting close. Just remind yourself that it IS just
water, it will come off, and exercise a little more. Exercise helps me to
get it back down, even during my TOM, and it helps alleviate my cramping and
    bloating.

    (I know, guys. How pleasant!)

Here's a weird question: how often did you weigh before you went low-carb?
Because 2.5 pounds is within the realm of normal for daily weight fluctuation
as far as I've read. And especially at TOM.

When I started, I already knew I had a monthly weight fluctuation of 3 pounds
directly related to my TOM. So I started at my peak to guarantee an almost
immediate loss of 3 pounds. (I actually lost 8 pounds in the first 6 days.)
When I was losing, I'd gain 1-3 pounds at TOM, and lose the 3 pounds again. In
maintenance, I gain and lose the 3 pounds. So what you're describing sounds
    perfectly normal.

Then 2.5 lbs is within the margin. If it happens multiple days in a
row, so that you establish a trend, then something is wrong, but 2.5
lbs over one 24 hour period could easily just be water/glycogen.

This is VERY normal. In fact, my periods are somewhat irregular these days
(still basically once a month, but sometimes longer or shorter), so I can always
tell when it's on its way by the sudden jump in the scale. Many women lose this
water weight during the first couple of days of their period -- I never lose it
until AFTER my period is over, which is even MORE annoying. Nothing you can do
about it, really, except notice it, stay the course and enjoy the inevitable drop
in weight that comes during/after it. No amount of logic can quite overcome the
dismay this monthly increase brings with it, but you are certainly NOT alone :-)
In any case, don't worry about it.

  18. I gain anywhere from 5 to 10 lbs during my tom. I like to use those days as
"rest" days from lowcarbing. I don't know if its the raging hormones but
it's the only time of the month where I can eat 1 piece of bread or a
handful of chips and not want more. If it's not my TOM I can't eat bread or
chips because it sends me into such a downward spiral.

Relax. TOM can do weird things re: water weight. I jumped up a
significantly higher amount (as much as 9 pounds) for awhile there - and
it usually happens when I'm in for a rough one. YMMV, and I hope it
does, but do NOT stress over this if you know you've been fighting the
good fight - it's just TOM.
