For an injuried small toe, is there anything that a doctor can do or is
there some kind of home remedy. It has been very swollen for a few weeks as
    a result of banging it.

What have you tried so far? Have you tried icing it?

A few weeks sounds like a rather long time for swelling. If you've
broken it, you really should find out.

These are my opinions only, but they're almost always correct.

First aid for a "bedpost fracture" (it's actually called that), is to pull
it straight and to tape it to the adjoining toe. If it is a non-union
fracture, or is fractured into a joint, and either is possible considering
the length of time is has remained swollen, then it's time to seek medical
    attention, preferably from a podiatrist.

Anecdote alert!!!!! I used a Chinese linament called "Zheng Gu Shui" (True
Bone Water) for a martial arts injury. This is often available in Chinese
grocery stores for about $6-$10 per bottle. I found it helpful.

Some Chinese medicines are made from tiger bone, which has contributed
greatly to the near extinction of the wild tiger. I do hope that "True Bone
Water" is not one of these. I doubt that there is a list of ingredients in
    English on the package.

First off, there IS an English list of Ingredients and NO, there is NO tiger
bone in it. In ancient days, perhaps there was. It contains alcohol,
polygonum cuspidatum (Bushy Knotweed) rhizome, Camphor wood extract, Angelica
root, Moghania Macrophylla root, Zedoary rhizome, and San Qi root (Pseudo
Ginseng). No animal products of any kind.
