Looks like foodnetwork.com has become victim of site tracking services. The indirects cause several seconds of lockup between navigating pages over there. Seems like the site has been outsourced to a third party company. It even appears that actual content is being served up by the third party company. The page hangs on adsremote.scripps.com... when it finally connects, the rest(actual content) of the page is served up.

Block all cookies from the site and its parasites. Don't give them the statistics they need in order to get paid by their advertisers.

It's a total shame that I have to resort to that. Where I work, people who do workmanship 1/100th as bad as what has been done to foodnetwork's site, get immediately fired.
It seems like someone over there should be able to realize this and have it fixed. I timed the lockup. From when I click on a link returned by the site's search, until the page is displayed, the lag is 10+ seconds. I'm very curious as to what the site designers told foodnetwork so as to lead them to believe that something is not wrong.

I have no problem with it coming up in 3 seconds. When I browse from one site to another on the foodnetwork, it all comes up at around 3 seconds, not over.
I don't have fast, fast, fast DSL, but I do have DSL. But 3 seconds is good enough for me -- at this time. Dee Dee

Dunno... I'm not seeing it. Performance is acceptable from here. I'm on a ~6Mb cable connection tonight. Running on an old Mac G4 tower with cookies disabled.
But I'm not too fond of the ipix, windows media, flash, java mix that they have in there. A little too multi-media for my taste.
