I think the next star is going to be the african american heavy set man. He has a great personality, and puts on a good program. The two guys that work together are good too. After that the Caribbean girl would do a good program too. Harmony was just abit to sixties for todays show. And the one with the bandaged finger should go back to acting school for afew lessons.

But I watched a funny/embarrassing moment as a speaker was introduced at a large function (1300 people). He was black and from France. The president of the organization said he was a "distinguished African-American..." to a room where all conversation abruptly stopped to create the quietest quiet I've ever heard in a crowd.
It only works in the U.S. and only when the person wants it to.
I think of myself as Italian-American. One denotes ancestry, the other citizenship.

Yeah. My grandparents were born in Italy and I refer to myself as Italian American. Nobody has a problem with that.

Umm...No he won't. He was eliminated. I'm hoping for Hans, or maybe Dan & Steve, which would be a funny show. Anyone but Susannah. (The bandaged one.) She annoys the living daylights out of me. Not sure why, exactly, except that she is one note, and strikes me as extremely phony. Also, they have enough "diet" shows already.

Exactly... why would they need ANOTHER show telling you how to make fat-free flavour-free food in miniscule portions? They've already got one of them and her recipes don't seem to be any different. But she might well win because people are obsessed with diets.

I don't think she'll win - she's too plastic. Hardly any personality shows, at all. She's "on" when the camera's on her and instantly "off" when it isn't. I like Hans - don't know if he'll relax enough to make it - didn't like the really heavy guy, and don't like the black woman very much - she's just sloppy or something. I like the gay pair. I was glad to see the Afro-haired jitterbug gone. He was just too over the top. I liked Harmony, and am sorry she didn't get very far.

A black lady friend of mine prefers "black". A younger black cow orker chastised me for using black and not being PC and using A-A. I told him I didn't get the memo.

Negro is generally not accepted terminology anymore. It's seen as demeaning in part because it was used during segregation.
