Folding bikes

I think the older Brompton's are pretty cool. I don't know where you
can find them, but a thorough search should yield results. Here's a

Brompton for me thanks. When you look at a folder, also look at the carrying system that goes with it. The luggage system. The Brompton with the touring bag is great. Can be used for lesiure, commute, touring visiting foreign cities you name it, it works.

What you should buy depends on what you'll be using it for.

Do you want something that folds quickly, or just something that can be
packed up in a suitcase occasionally?

For carrying on a train, light-rail, or bus, something like the
Brompton, KHS Cappucino, or Dahon Piccolo is good. I have some
Taiwanese Bromptons, and they are great, but the cost of the UK made
Bromptons is very high.

For touring, I'd get the Gaerlan gt20 over a bike friday, if I only was
going to pack/unpack occasionally, see
"http://gaerlan.com/bikes/gotravel/gotravel.htm", since it avoids the
rear internally geared hub, in favor of a conventional drive-train.

Also good for touring is the Dahon Speed TR is good. I prefer the 2004
model over the 2005 model, because on the 2005, the adjustable height
handlebar post is gone. They do offer a front hub dynamo for 2005. I
bought a Speed TR last year (sorry Lynette), and I'm happy with it,
though it doesn't fold nearly as small as the Brompton.
