I've been following the ongoing battle of NIMBYs in West Palm Beach,
Florida opposing the creation of 5' bike lanes along A1A (see
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/localnews/content/auto/epaper/editions/friday/south_county_04dad8a38159505300cf.html).
To send a message to Florida that 5' min. width bike lanes should be
built along both sides of A1A, I think cyclists should immediately begin
a boycott of the whole state of Florida. Ride and spend your money in a
more bicycle friendly state. If you live in Florida, don't ride or spend
any money in Palm Beach County. If you live in Palm Beach County, don't
ride or spend any money in West Palm Beach.
Spread the word to your cycling club friends and cycling associations
you belong to. In the coming days I'll try to work up a Boycott Florida
graphic and slogan that can be copied and used on web pages free of charge.
