  1. So I'm thinkin', as I'm reading and hearing about Marion Jones admitting
steroid use, and yet again another athlete (Jones) involved in the BALCO
affair says she initially thought she was getting Flaxseed Oil injections...
what is it about flaxseed oil that makes it so easy to confuse with THG or
    other steroids?

So I looked up "Flaxseed Oil" at your friendly neighborhood on-line
    retailer-

    http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/search/en/query.jsp?q=flaxseed+oil&intsource=main

And what do you notice about "Flaxseed Oil?"

    It's cheap. Really cheap.

Nowhere near the estimated $2500/month for a supply of THG.

We're supposed to believe that athletes like Marion Jones or Barry Bonds or
Tammy Thomas never questioned the amount they were spending for flaxseed oil
    & vitamins?

The craftiest dopers are not the ones being caught -- Marion Jones
seems pleasant but perhaps not the sharpest tool in the shed.

My opinion is that they knew what they were getting all along. Did
they really think they'd get that much difference in speed and/or
strength from flaxseed oil? In Tammy Thomas' case, she should have
been able to have looked in the mirror and seen what was going on.

I already exposed the flaxseed oil charade. I suggest you do your
homework before claiming an independent scientific find.

And the key to knowing the flaxseed oil thing is not true, is that you
don't inject non-sterile oil into your body with a needle. It would be
like saying you inject tomato soup instead of eating it.

As for cost, one could argue you are paying for the advice and dosage
information...just like when you go to your doctor. The actual
treatment doesn't really cost $350. You also have to pay for doc's
    medical school tuition.

    Thanks,

Also, Conti (or whoever the supplier was) has stated that he told
athletes to use the 'i thought it was flaxseed' cover story if they were
found out. As Bonds and Jones dutifully did.

No, they knew that they weren't taking flaxseed oil. As RMS pointed out, Conti
told them to say that as a cover story. But I do think that there are high level
athletes that probably aren't really aware of how much money they're spending on
stuff like supplements and other related things. They have managers to take care of
    that.

Another aspect of making the athletes responsible for "test results":
for argument's sake, some know everything, some don't.

If some "don'ts" are burned in the scorched-earth War on People, what
care the authorities in their self-annointed drive for sponsorship
    money?

"Unfortunate, but the rules must apply", and the _show_ goes on.

IMHO, Jones' comments IRT Pound's "Kangaroo Court" are no less
    applicable after this forced confession.

It remains to be seen what sort of a "deal" she winds up getting from
    those in power. --D-y

Do not ignore that a significant (majority?) portion of any sentence
will relate to and result from lying about the stolen check matter she
was involved in re Tim Montgomery (her ex-boyfriend).

I don't know anything about that, don't recall hearing about it, etc.

So they have her ass in a crack two different ways.

They've already wrung the tearful public confession of wrongdoing out
of her IRT doping, where she didn't mention anything substantive about
"other", to the best of my recall and I did view that sad scene; no
interest in seeing any of it again thank you.

The authorities, they're real big on getting those statements read.
Still goes back to bad rules and bad enforcement IMHO. Note, she's
going to get far, far worse punishment than the coaches or the
others-- manufacturer/pushers, for instance-- involved, or those who
made the bad rules in the first place. It's called
    "Scapegoating" (with a capital "S"😉.

When the competitor next to you can dope and get away with it, and all
this well known in the "public domain", and in much more detail
(methodology) in the realm of "insider information", then stripping
medals, lifetime exclusion and so forth-- "public excoriation" incl.--
are scapegoating. Cheap shot unloading on someone unable to defend.

If that's not true, then why isn't Victor Conte in jail for life? He's
back out and mocking the system. Where's his tearful speech of
atonement? I never saw anything from him other than some form of
defiance. But then, he's right, this is all just a big show for the
public. And the corporate (think "Enron"😉 sponsors, of course.

These guys need to go fight some real crime. But then, real crime
tends to fight back, doesn't it? --D-y

One other part of the Jones case that ends up stinking is that, if (and likely,
when) she's told to give up her medals from the Olympics, three other women will have
to also: her team mates from the relay.

  13. On 6-Oct-2007, smacked up and reeling, "Mike Jacoubowsky"
    <[email hidden]> blindly formulated
    the following incoherence:

If a coach were actually injecting an athlete with illegal PEDs without the
athlete consent (especially a world class athlete with personal reputation,
multi million $ endorsements, and olympic/worlds medals at risk), that
revelation would be followed by a HUGE lawsuit and, I would hope, criminal
charges against the coach (is there a statute that applies? ...there must
be.). I dont believe any sane coach would pull such a stunt.

But Im confused about the facts in this story, because I saw MJ on TV
yesterday saying she alone was responsible for her behavior, etc. Is she
having it both ways? Or has she truly come clean?

She's reciting a prepared statement authored by (she fervently hopes)
a pretty good lawyer who is doing what he can to keep her jail time to
    a minimum.

Standard practice, sop for the authorities.

Where is Victor Conte's original statement? He's laughing now, and
making no bones about it. --D-y

  15. common for these people to believe its flaxseed oil when they once
knew it was not flaxseed oil.
how did Jones get tripped into believing it was not flaxseed oil?
its kinda tiring isn't it? Like that was it for Jones. She tried and
    succeeded then ...
    bummer
Dynepo isn't illegal at time 'A' but illegal at Time 'B' ? when it
falls into either solid, liquid or gas which are illegal at 'B' and
'A' but not for the Spanish-American frame importers.

I thought one point of "The Clear" was that it could be taken orally.
Did Jones really say that she thought she was getting flaxseed oil
    *injections*?

I Googled some news stories, and couldn't find explicit statements
about injections. But I did read that "The Clear" was supposed to be
    dripped underneath the tongue.

  18. Flaxseed is a good one. Its kind of vital for vegans and vegetarians. Meat eaters will benefit from it but they actually I think get enough omega 6 in their diets. Flaxseed injections I've not heard of, that is just over the top. The ground flax is the best. Need to keep it in the freezer though.
