Flat spot on tyres

Check your inner tubes.. I had the same thing with come Miche Jet-S semi
slicks, though they were 2inch.. I found the tubes I was using had some
extra rubber ring thingys around the tube where the valve was.. this caused
a noticeable thud thud thud when riding on smooth surfaces.. found some
better 'quality' tubes and this appeared to go away..

Again, I'm no expert yada yada, but that is my 2c..

The tubes are Specialized. I would have thought they'd be decent quality?

The original tyres are 26 x 2.1"
The road tyres are 26 x 1.25"

If it's making your ride go up & down, then it sounds like the tyre is
not mating with the rim correctly. I've found in the past that some
Brands tyres don't mate well with some Brands of rims, though I
haven't had it for years. The way I've fixed this in the past is to
deflate & pull the tyre left & right all the way around to make sure it
is free-ish on the rim & that the tube is not poking out from under the
tyre. Then inflate slightly and check again. Keep doing small
increments of inflation till you are at the desired pressure.

Never assume quality going on brand name alone... although this is how most
of the commercial world operates.. :|

An easy way to check this would be to pump them up outside the tyre.. this
is how I found out about the inconsistent inflation caused by these ruber
rings around the valve.. this may not even be the cause of your issue given
you are using smaller tyres.. worth checking though..
