flat bar road bikes???

My current project is a Flat Bar conversion on a new Felt F95, (wheels belong to my SR81) see pix:

I have a modified Giant Elwood. I commute to work on it because I don't have to dress up to ride it, it has no toe overlap, it has mudguards and panniers.

If it's not raining and I don't need to carry anything, I ride my proper road bike.

My wife rides one, comfort and control. She came from alot of years on a mountain bike so it was an easier transition. I've seen alot of flat conversions on the Katy trail.

I say whatever suits you, I use a drop bar, I have friends who use flat.

Started out road biking on my mtb with slicks and a flat bar. Just not good for long distance - you're too upright. After a couple of hours, my lower back started getting sore. They're okay for short distances, or if you're just getting started.

Some of the better carbon drop bars are incredibly comfortable - molded to fit your hands in several positions.

Yep I've got a flatbar roadbike & I'm not old.

Its got a nice comfortable geometry so its nice to ride around the block.

I got it on promotion for commuting purposes as I'll much rather chain that bike up in a public place than my other bike that is strictly for enjoyment purposes only.

I have flatbars on my roadbike for comfort too. It was easy to find the mountainbike parts for the conversion.

If i can find a frame with a shorter top tube and longer headtube I might try the drop bars again.
