  1. Returning from morning coffee meeting (far more productive than official
meetings in my experience) we were walking in to the office when I just
    stopped and stared.

Propped up outside the door was a fixie. A very nice red, light and
impossibly clean fixie. D-Lock through front wheel but not attached to
    anything.

Colleagues stopped and demanded I stopped drooling over the bike. They
just didn't understand what was so beautiful about it.

Walked to the lifts and *ding* doors open and out comes a courier.
Totally dressed for the part and had that `I'm a fixie courier' aura
    about him.

I want a fixie. Now how to convince the missus this is a need and not a
    want....

Shouldn't be too hard. But a gentle reminder, dribbling in public is not de rigeur ..

Can I remind you that you have only just bought a new bike?
I wish you luck, but I think you are mixing up needs and wants
just like my 5yo son. :-)

Hard rubbish days are your friend, fast descents your enemy until you learn
the secret of spiiiiin. I got my first one at a church fete. Rip the spin on
cluster off an old road bike and replace it with a track cog.

Bwhahahahah - someone just mentioned on another thread you wear short shorts. And that visual of those threadbare knicks of over 12 months ago has permanently scarred me.

Euan, how many bike have you got?
might pay you to convert an existing bike to a fixie 😉
    resolves both needs and wants?

    cheers,

Surely this is exactly the kind of 'loose lips' type of rhetoric the new sedition laws are aimed at stamping out!
Buying a new bike only means the process starts again as you hunt for the next...
