I recently retired an old bike and I want to convert it into a 3-speed chain-drive unicycle. I'll keep the existing 28-38-48 chainset and mount a saddle to the head tube. All that's missing is a wheel. I need a 26" fixed wheel (not too difficult to come by), but I want a relatively big sprocket.
I think the best sprocket size would be about 24 or 26 tooth, though I'd be content with 22. Do such things exist? I enquired about it in Avon Valley Cyclery the other day, they had nothing in stock bigger than a 17 and were doubtful about being able to get anything bigger than a 20.
I could always use a 20 tooth sprocket with a 20" wheel, but I'd much rather use a 26" wheel for this project. I could also fit smaller chainrings, but I'd rather use the parts that I've already got.
And has anyone else noticed that <URL:http://www.sjscycles.com> seems to be down this evening (Wednesday)?

I got a 22 from BikeTrax in Edinburgh <url: http://www.biketrax.co.uk > last year. They didn't have anything larger at the time, but they had that in stock, so they're easy enough to find. Aren't 24" wheels under something of a renaissance in jump bikes at the minute, too?

Yes. Since yesterday I believe. I was going to suggest them as a source of sprocket as I'm reasonably sure that they go at least as far as 22T. I don't know if they manufacture sprockets, but the other possibility might be Highpath Engineering. (Google it).

I have a 22T if you want it. The catch - it's attached to a wheel and my chain whip is the 3/32" type so won't grip it properly...

Thanks for the offer, I shall bear it in mind and may well take you up on it if I can't find something bigger.
