  1. I was walking through town yesterday and stopped in at the fitness center.
They have a forever pool and a hottub and TONS of free weights. From what I
remember they have 2-3 treadmills. A neat stair machine, 2-3 eliptical
trainers. and then a few non free weight type benches. If you sign up for a
year membership it is $350 a person and $550 for 2 You get a key that allows
you to enter at anytime. Do you think this is a good deal? I dont know if
I am quite ready to join mostly because I will be gone for 2 months and dont
want to pay for the 2 months I KNOW I wont use it. Anyway I like to be
informed before I spring stuff like this on Jeff.. lol

I think it's a great deal. My building has an outdoor pool and a weight
room, but I would definitely pay $350/year to be able to swim year round,
and I think my gym is missing some things that I'll probably want later.
Being able to come and go as you please is nice, too. Now and again I have
sleepless nights and sometimes it's quite nice to get the hour on the
elliptical out of the way at 3:00 am when I'm not doing anything else
    useful.

Some gyms allow you to put your membership on hold for periods you know
you'll be away. It's worth asking.

Of course, the real question is whether you'll honestly use it. Is it
convenient to where you live? Can you get child care for when you're
    there?

I find my exercise program works really well for me because when I come
home all I have to do is change and go down and get the key (or walk over
to the pool). If I had to change and then haul x-town, well maybe the
excuses would start to pile up.

Well, where finances are shared it is probably good to consult.

  4. It is about 1/2 a mile from my home so it would make a great distance for a
warm up! I would use it first thing when Jeff was still up I think. The
benifit would be if we both joined then he could work out whenever.. he
works 3rd shift. I think he would enjoy the weight lifting... he is already
planning the future of working out with Xavier.. lol..

I'd go for it, but after you get back. Plenty of stuff you can do on your
own till you sign up, and no point paying for time you can't use. JMO

It would be nice if you could find a place that
will let you have a trial or month-to-month
membership. I know of too many who paid for a
whole year and quit going after a couple months.

  7. I could do the month to month.. they even have day passes. once I start a
routine it is hard for me to stop.. it is why it is so easy for me to eat
    the same foods everyday 😉

Check with your insurance company and employer, often either or
both will kick-back some money for gym memberships. However,
often you'll have to provide some proof of use.

Or they go out of business . . .

I've joined two and both have gone under within three months. Just to
be on the safe side, I promise not to join your's. :-)

Maybe they have a website that would tell you their prices?
    It's worth a look.

  12. Checked- no prices, Just want it to be less than $50.00- guess I will go in
and take a look. NYSC was $89.00 a month close to my home but way to much.
Womans Way- Gym was $29.00 but they had really old equipment and to crowded.

Do you have a YMCA in your neighborhood? You might want to check
with them. I work at a Y and believe our prices to be the most
reasonable in the NYC area -- especially if you join during a
promotion where the introduction fee is waived.

Plus, our contracts can be broken with a 30 day notice. Most
commercial gyms offer deals only on long-term contracts that
    you're locked into.
