  1. I just noticed that if you add up the individual components (from the
summary box) on FitDay (Fat, Carbs, Protein and Alcohol), it doesn't
equal calories. Also, Fiber doesn't appear to be the difference. Can
    anyone explain this?

Yesterday, for example, the difference for me is 70 calories, too much
    to be a rounding error. My fiber was 29g (29 x 4 = 116), so that can't
    be the answer.

  2. Were there custom items?

With custom items it might be possible to have a calorie value that does not
    match the macronutrient numbers.

  3. Yes, some are Custom. Why would that matter?

Also, it does appear that there is a problem with Fiber calories. At
the line item level Fiber is counted as zero calories, but it appears
they count the calories for the total calorie calculation at the top.
Sloppy if you ask me, but the again it's free.

  4. Here's my summary data from yesterday. The values indicate calories
    only:

    Total 1880

    Fat 1184

    Quoted message said:

    Sat 492
    Poly 134
    Mono 502

    Carbs 155

    Quoted message said:

    Fiber 0

    Protein 471

    Alcohol 0

As you can see, the Fat components sum to 1128, not 1184.

    Also, Fat (1184) + Carbs (155) + Protein (471) = 1810, not 1880.

This is too great to be a rounding error. The only plausible
explanation I can think of is that there are calories that don't fit
into the Summary categories. For example, maybe there are fats that
don't slot into the Sat, Poly and Mono categories, but are added into
    the Total Calories calculation.

Perhaps. I know when doing custom menus that many times I don't have the
breakdown on fats, but will know the sat fat number and the total fat
    calories.

I must take back what I said about calories adding up. That's not true. %
    seem to work, though.

In fact Fitday does add the calories correctly, where it has a problem
    is when displaying the sub-totals.

If you add each food item's calories individually, they will come to the
same total (within a point or two) as the displayed totals. I noticed
this a year or so ago and emailed Fitday about it twice, a few weeks
    apart, but received no response.

I imagine that the next version will have a bug fix or two, including
this little anomaly. They might even make the calorie burn calculations
in the exercise section a little more realistic.

It is still an excellent program.

    Regards

Some fibers have calories, not the same as other carbs, though.
