  1. Ok so yes I have been on and off LC for plenty of years and this time I
will get healthy because (1) I don't want diabetes 2) I want to have a baby
and will not risk its health with a high risk birth due to being well over
weight and a 99.9% chance of developing diabetes during pregnancy. (3) I
want to live a long and healthy life with my hubby

Well that being said I have always tried Fit Day but never could figure it
out (yes I'm not smart) so I would just keep a half-assed food journal...
Like I said this time I'm going to do it!

Well my question is I want to add Mahi Mahi Fish to the list but I don't
know how to add a *new food* I know how to change a foods Nutrition Facts
but can I put my own food in? I cant find Mahi Mahi on the list and I have a
bag of it that I got at Sams

    Please help me :o[

I looked it up in the USDA nutritional database, but it doesn't have
mahi-mahi, either, so I googled mahi along with clues from the DB
regarding different types of tuna (bluefin, yellowfin, skipjack), and
found a lot of articles about fishing different classes of fish. Mahi
is in the dolphin/dorado class. Surprisingly, the USDA DB DOES have a
listing for "dolphinfish, raw". For one ounce, the info is:

    cal: 24
    fat: .2g
    saturated fat: .2
    cholesterol: 21
    sodium: 25
    potassium: 118
    carbs: 0
    fiber: 0
    protein: 5.2

Probably as close as you are going to get to mahi-mahi. BTW, in
googling I read that mahi-mahi has only been popular in the last 10
years or so -- before that it was considered the "rat of the sea" and
not fit to serve to company :-) Just goes to show how tastes and trends
    change.

  3. I assume you are using the online version. On the left side where it says
Add a Food, down where it says add custom make sure it says New Custom Food
and click GO! On the next screen fill in the food name, serving size and
all the nutritional information, then click the Save Custom Food button.

  4. Angie, do a search in FitDay for "dolphinfish". That's mahi mahi. Mahi mahi
is the Hawaiian name for the fish, which is more commonly used these days
because people don't like to think they're eating those nice marine mammals
    like Flipper.

Dolphin may not have been popular elsewhere, but it was always a highly
sought after fish when I was living in Florida 30 years ago. It's incredibly
    delicious raw!
