Dave's a pathetic [censored], that's why he resides in so
many killfiles in this group. He especially likes to
insult females.Anyway, now that's done, welcome to the group. Lots of
good information here. Another good place for pump
information in particular is the insulin pumper's mailing
list. There's 4500 members on pumps of every stripe.
Thank you. I've been looking for a good place to get
oriented.

I've been pumping two months now and it's made a
dramatic difference. Less lows, better postprandial
readings, and much greater freedom. I should get my
first post-pump A1c results next week (If my endo
remembers to send me an email). It sounds like you have great control, better than mine
was on MDI, so the transition to pumping wouldn't be
difficult. It is a lot of work at the beginning, but the
reward is better numbers and less likelihood of future
complications. You already have the frequent testing part
down. The pumper's bible is the book 'Pumping Insulin -
Everything You Need for Success With an Insulin Pump' by
John Walsh and Ruth Roberts. It'll give you everything
you'll need to know except which brand of pump to buy.
The HbA1C numbers kind of lie. I'm very brittle. Control
is difficult but I seem to manage well controlling it
often. It just takes practice to say every so often to
test and compensate. I'd benefit from a constant monitor,
like the watch, but that isn't cost effective yet.
I'm hoping to find out how a pump might help someone like
myself that is rather brittle.
I can get to a steady 80-110 and hold there for all night
or during the day. That is without food though. I know how
I react to foods and can repeat that most of the time.
Since reality is that a good variety of foods are a bit
more unpredictable, I test often and correct when out of
line. Others can get buy with less intervention, but that
does not go well for me. I can still tell (mentally) when
things are not right.
