When my bike has been to my LBS it comes back with beautifully aligned gears. This is great for a few weeks then the cables start to stretch and they need a little retuning.
I understand the principle of adjusting the gears, setting the hi and lo points, adjusting the tension of the cable etc, but never seem to get it as good as the bike shop can.
It generally seems that changing one direction is superb, but changing the other needs a little extra tension rather than just the click in the indexing. When I adjust this it flips the other way. D'oh!
I don't think I'm over compensating for it as I just turn the tension adjuster by around a quarter of a turn a time.
Anyone any suggestions or advice?
