  1. I pulled 500 in the gym tonight for the first time ever. I got 3
whites from my training partners too! Now to get my squat on track
    again.

congrats. I'm going to try again and see if I can't get past 400
pretty soon. Trying 5x5 and going up 20 lbs each wo for the time
being. Still not really squatting, though. :|

I'm not a huge fan of reps in the deadlift. I think assistance
exercises for reps are better. Like stiff legged deadlifts and front
and hack squats for sets of 5.

I'm not a huge fan of reps in the deadlift. I think assistance
exercises for reps are better. Like stiff legged deadlifts and front

I've started doing kettlebell hack squats with the spine upright and
the hands against the tailbone (not under the thighs). In this
exercise, the heels are not planted flat and the knees are flared and
stick out forward. I've read that this is a great way to strengthen
one's knees and quads (if one's knees are healthy).

As an assistance exercise for the DL, I do hip pull-throughs at the
cable machine (lowest cable setting and triceps push-down rope),
making sure to lock out my knees as I finish driving my hips forward.
Supposedly this helps with the DL start and lockout.

One day, I'll resume doing real DLs. For now the only DL variants I
do are trap bar deads and some kinda plate-loaded isolateral DL
    station exercise.

I'm not a walking advertisement for the value of doing these or any
other kind of exercise. I experiment with different exercises because
other people - who are walking advertisements - recommend them.

    Congrats John!

    Sumo or conventional?

Belt? Straps? (I'll assume no DL suit)

Do you do any kind of grip training other than heavy DLs?

Sumo. I've actually moved my feet out about 2 inches farther than I
used to. Now I'm really wide.

White lights are what you get for a good lift from the judges. We
judge each other on every heavy lift.

Ah. Very good. Thanks for the explanation. And again:
    Congratulations.
