That's what we did. We got Meko when she was 3 and had her for 11
years. It's been 16 yrs. since we let her go and I can still get teary
sometimes. But we have good memories and still chuckle over her
personality. We didn't own her...she owned us. We haven't gotten
another one because we can't afford the vet costs involved and don't
want to take on something we can't fulfill.......Sharon

    It can get expensive. ;-)

But I don't have any (human) children.
    Just furkids.

I just spent $420 getting a tumor removed from Ghengis' ear and 2 weeks later
Maddie's feet flared up (she has some sort of allergy issue and within a day
it looks like badgers have been eating her feet) that was another $75. Next
month it's vaccination month for both of them and then we stock up on
    heartguard and frontline...

    it's expensive.

<lol> A little over 1/2 my last big vet bill for the dogs annual care
was heartguard and Revolution...... so I know what you mean.

but the day I had surgery on my hand last week and I came home, maddie knew I
felt crappy. David bundled me up on the sofa and Maddie crawled ever so slowly
up my body until she was sprawled across me and huffing in my neck. So
comforting, worth every penny I spent on her.

Celene, my long haired black feline furball has been a big comfort this
week. She knows I'm sad so has been extra attentive.

Frankly, I don't think I'd have much of an appetite.

A good glass of port then perhaps?

    🙂 You're right. I'd need a good "stiff" drink!

Yeah, but what a way to go.

That's the menu from the last meal served on the Titanic. The
    first class passengers, anyway.

Every time this subject comes up it's usually split between the
Titanic menu and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Menu.
I'm kinda partial to the TDCJ menu, myself:

Fried chicken, French fries, a jalapeno burger from Whataburger,
Dr Pepper, and Pecan + Moon Pies. Most people on death row ask
    for a beer, too.

I posted it to see who'd recognize it (way to go, sf!)

What have you got against beef ribs, BTW? 🙂

Me, sautee'd or fried shrimp and a seared rare Rib Eye steak with maybe
    a side of yam fries...........

I personally prefer jumbo shrimps over all the sea bugs, including king
    crab.

10 or 15 different types of ice cream.
A veggie pizza with all good things on it
    An icy cola
Pasta with grilled prawns in garlic with grilled veggies, fresh cheese
    to grate on top
A good pie - maybe mixed berries and cherries with rhubarb thrown in

    That would probably do me.

Oh [censored]! I am so sorry to hear it. I had to euth my beloved Border
Collie mix last year - I still cry about it. She was 12.

If you haven't done so, plan some sort of memorial ritual for him, when
you are ready. It really helped me get past the loss. We waited a
year, and took Toshie to the beach and sprinkled her ashes. It was
really healing for us, knowing she went back to the Earth. It helped
    me to let go.

Sorry to hear about your dog, though. My sympathy.

No meat, at least the way they sell them around here. Waste of
    valuable grill space.

I'm gonna see if I can get some full size short ribs instead.

That would rather depend on how / why I was going to die.

If it was just the "end of the world tomorrow", probably just some good
prime rib and lobster would do the job.

If I was going to be executed I'd go cannibal and want the judge slow
roasted with a nice horseradish sauce.

That's true. The store boughts don't have much meat. That's the
main complaint I hear about beef ribs.

I did some yesterday the old fashion way: cut them off a rib
roast. You can't feed a large crowd that way, though.

I actually go light on the garlic with Shrimp.

    Or:

Large garbage pizza from Tonys (local joint) with the braided

    Or:

My mom's pot roast and potatoes.

But whatever the main course: a bottle of Jim Beam and a pack of
    Marlboro for dessert.

The first sounds tempting... but since I rarely eat pizza due to the
pain, that'd be tempting, but I'd have to make my own so I could drown
    it in cheese. <G>

No matter HOW much I ask for "extra cheese" when I order pizza, it's
