  1. How does one filter out the childish, insulting, ignorant, argumentative,
and idiotic posts on this newsgroup so that only the good information and
    discussions comes thru.

    I use outlook express.

    TIA
    John

Well, you could filter out any posts by Jan and Ilena. That would be a
    start. ;-)

I don't know what Outlook Express allows you to do (Outlook Express?
That's like hanging a big sign on your computer that says "hack me".)

But if you can filter out every posting that starts with "Re:", that
should avoid most of the flamage. Of course, it'll also avoid most of
the articles, but you will see much of the spam. You didn't say
whether you wanted to avoid spam...

Beyond that, you could avoid reading anything written by Ilena or Jan,
since that's mostly flamage. If you want to avoid "ignorant," cut out
Dave Wickware, "DRCEEPHD," and Todd Gastaldo.

You'll have to form your own conclusions about other posters or
topics. My killfile is set to get rid of any posting with
"circumcision" in the subject line, for example.

Set your filters to ignore Jan Drew.

Most newsgroup readers have a preferences section where you can block messages
by author, by title, by subject, or by their domain name.

This is why most of the worst offenders change their names daily. You simply
have to ignore their posts entirely.

Yes. We who do this are offering everyone an opportunity to exercise self
control. However, these people who cannot control themselves and respond,
blame the person who changes their email address, and not their lack of
    self-control.

I find that tragic that they are in such denial.
