Hi
I'm 6ft 2 & weigh around 210lb's. I weight train a little, just for
definition & cycle a lot & now i've got into runing!
I run every afternoon for about 40 mins & it is great for me as i have
anxiety & i find it burns fat better than the cycling.
However i have a couple of queries.
1. My dad who is 68 has had a double hip replacement, as he is tall & did a
job with lots of bending,
could i be next, will running increase my chances of a hip replacement
& also arthritis, as my mother
has this in her fingers & back. Should i take cod liver oil &
glucosamine!
I have no current ailments although my right knee feels tight after a
long run. I hear running is
beneficial to detering arthritis & keeping supple, but i also her the
opposite, can anyone tell me the
truth!
2. For my anxiety, i feel i need to increase my heart rate each day to the
extent that it burns off my internal
build up of anxiety & i feel now that i don't get out of breath so much
& my recovery period is very
short, does this seem to show that i'm getting fitter or that i'm
becoming addicted to the buzz of
increasing my heartrate.
3. Can i purchase anything that tells me the distance in miles that i'm
running, by attaching it to myself?, i
know of pedometers, but i also hear that they just count steps.
Any help & advice would be appreciated!
Thanks
Gary
