Fiamme Speedy rim -- asking for opinion

Was the Speedy the track model? The side walls might have been fairly
well angled, making rim brake use difficult.

Maybe 355 grams? Later available with "Hard Silver" anodizing I think.

All the above from my fading memory, so I hope others will correct me
where I'm wrong. ;-)

Two types.

Speedy #2-made for the velodrome-350 grams and Speedy 'hard track', 300
grams and also for the velodrome. Fiamme as a company no longer exists.

Hi Qui and thanks for the answer. Does their usage for the velodromes
means that they weren't as strong rims as rims used for "regural" riding?

I would greatly appreciate your opinion about Fiamme Speedy rims
durability and strength.

I don't know these rims, but many rims meant for track riding lack the
braking flats on the side that road rims have. I had, at one time, a
Fiamme yellow label track rim; no flats, the sides of the rim had a
signficant slope to them, so brakes would not work.

Fiamme's classic #1 "Red Label" track rim got shiny red
"Speedy" labels when the line was modernized in 1980. Since
then, Fiamme went under, came back as F.I.R., who has
recently closed and is not expected to reopen.

Great ( not 'just ok', truly great) track rim . Couldn't ask
for a better all around tough rim. I have some with
thousands of miles on and no end in sight.

N.B.-- Due to the severe angle of the sides, a loose brake
shoe could really hurt someone when used as a front road
rim. Take great care of that if you do.

I have some FIR speedy rims that are clinchers.

Haven't ridden them enough (they're on my bike the other side of the
Atlantic) to make much comment, to be honest, but they ride nicely, and have
done quite a few miles with the previous owner.
