Felt Vs. Trek Vs. Jamis

I would save a little more money and buy something better than Sora. In fact for a little more money you should be able to find something with 105 10 spd instead of Sora/8 spd.

As for the brand, at that price point all the bikes are manufactured about the same. It's not until you get to the high end bike frames that it makes any difference. Pretty much all the bike companies use third party over seas companies to manufacture their low end bike frames and then slap on the components. Honestly the biggest difference is the bike shop so got to your favorite bike shop that will stand behind the bike if there are any problems.

So how about the felt F75 it has the shimano 105 components. Its 1400 tho, I suppose could just keep saving. Do you really think its worth it for the extra 2 high end speeds. I mean im riding my probably ten year old Ross, Its only a ten speed I practicly built it from scratch. But its just to heavy. What if i got new cassetts with a new chain. In my opinion its just to old of a bike to put more money into. Let me know what you think. Thank you

The F75 is a nice bike too but if price is a concern take a look at the F85, it's priced at $1000 and comes with 105/10 spd.

I do think the components are worth the money but not because of the extra gears but because the 105 components are more durable and you will be able find parts for it easier down the road.

NOt that you dont have enough choices, but I was given the tip to look at Fuji. My CF monococque bike is supposedly made along side Scott CF bikes and it has that look about it-but at a much better price. The Fuji's are known for being lighter than there competition at the same price points. Mine was 17.5 lbs and $2200 where as the Felt of the same $$ was 19 lbs.
This is of course if weight even matters to you.

I have the Jamis Coda and Jamis Quest (my first road bike)
So far so good with the Quest and really loving the ride.

The Jamis quest is equipped with 105 components and have seen them around the $700 mark on eBay.
Just make sure you are getting the right size frame
